Machine only just fits in the drive
Demolition
The process of demolition is not just knocking the building flat as quickly as possible. A machine operator and a labourer spent 3 full days demolishing the house and separating the waste into different materials, as the cost of waste disposal is dependent on how well it is separated. As much as possible is taken away to be re-cycled.
Re-cyling of materials
All of the waste such as insulation went into 1 40 yard skip with all of the brickwork and concrete taken as muck away which would be broken up and used for hardcore elsewhere. The timber framing was burned on site, which was so dry and burned hot so did not even produce smoke. All of the old aluminium windows were sold as scrap to be recycled.
Care was taken to keep the building and waste piles damped down to minimise dust.
